Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Art and Design at times needs temporary part-time Instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals and leaves. In the past, typical assignments for temporary part-time instructors have been: Introductory Survey of Art History, Introductory Studio Art courses in the foundation block and student teacher supervision.

The Department of Art and Design offers programs in fine arts, graphic design, and art education, with minors in art history and studio. At the undergraduate level students can earn a BA, BFA and BSE. Graduate level students can earn an MEd in Art Education.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications

Relevant MFA for studio offerings or a M.Ed or equivalent for student teacher supervision. Prior college-level teaching experience in relevant discipline. Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations. Successful interview and teaching demonstration. Three successful background checks: Act 34 (Criminal Record Check); Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting); and Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance).

Preferred Qualifications

A relevant doctorate.
