Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Wellness and Sport Sciences is seeking temporary, part-time instructors. Current needs exist in one or more of the following areas: Organization and Administration of Sport Programs; Sport in American Culture; Moral and Ethical Issues in Sport; Facilities and Event Management; Sport and the Law; Sport Finance; and Sport Management.

The Department of Wellness and Sport Sciences in the College of Education and Human Services is comprised of 11 full-time faculty members. The Department is committed to improving the personal and professional lives of Millersville University students as well as citizens from the surrounding region through teaching, continued scholarly growth, and service. Millersville University is a public liberal arts institution located in south central Pennsylvania, within close vicinity of Lancaster City, a vital economic region. Millersville is 2 hours from Philadelphia and Washington and 4 hours from New York City. Millersville University has been named to Kiplinger’s 100 Best Values in Public Colleges list and ranked 57th in January 2006. The current enrollment consists of about 8,000 full- and part-time students, including approximately 1,000 graduate students. The MU graduates are much sought after by employers.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications

Related Master’s degree. Evidence of ability to successfully teach students of diverse populations. Successful interview and teaching demonstration. Three successful background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in related degree. College/university teaching experience.
