Job Summary/Basic Function

Millersville (PA) University needs temporary part-time Librarians to work in Public Services positions, Technical Services positions or both occasionally.

Public Services Librarians will primarily be responsible for virtual and face-to-face research assistance, collection development and/or instruction.

Technical Services Librarians will do original cataloging for an online system using appropriate content standards, MARC format, LCSH and the LC classification system.

Both Public Services Librarians and Technical Services Librarians will provide Reference Services.

Occasional evening and weekend work.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis; materials are reviewed whenever an instructor is needed.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications

A master’s degree in library or information sciences from a program accredited by the American Library Association.
Evidence of experience working in libraries.
Evidence of demonstrated ability to use electronic information resources.
Evidence of ability to work effectively as a team member. Evidence of excellent communication skills. Evidence of ability to work with students from diverse cultures and racial and ethnic groups.
Successful interview and three background clearances.

Technical Services candidates will be required to demonstrate ability to use OCLC and MARC or RDA and the LC classification system.
